Privacy Policy

Talkume ("we", "us") lets you bundle a CV and a short voice note into one shareable link, with an optional AI-generated assessment of spoken proficiency in any language, and offers Interview Simulation, a practice job interview with an AI interviewer. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.

What we collect

What we collect depends on whether you sign in.

• If you don't sign in: only the CV and voice note file(s) you choose to upload or record, and the link we generate for them. We don't require an account, an email address, or any personal details to create a one-off link.
• If you sign in with Google: we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google (the minimum needed to identify your account — we don't request access to your contacts, calendar, or anything else in your Google account). We use this to create your Talkume account, show your signed-in state, and let you manage a personal library of files and links.
• If you create an account with your email: we store your name and email address. Your password is handled by Amazon Cognito, our sign-in service: AWS stores it securely and we never see or store it. We send account emails (confirmation codes and password resets) from no-reply@talkume.com through Amazon's email service.
• Files you upload: your CV (PDF/DOCX, or one generated through our CV template builder) and your voice note (recorded in-browser or uploaded, capped at 90 seconds).
• If you use the CV template builder while signed in: the form answers you type (name, work history, education, etc.) are saved so you can reopen and edit them later. This is only saved for signed-in users — if you use the template without signing in, nothing beyond the generated PDF file is kept.
• If an AI evaluation is requested: the voice note is sent to an AI model running on Amazon Web Services in the United States to estimate spoken proficiency in whatever language is spoken. The result (detected language, CEFR level, fluency notes, a transcript, and comments) is stored with the link and shown to anyone who opens it. This only happens when a signed-in user actively clicks the evaluation button — it is never run automatically.
• If you use Interview Simulation: the job title, difficulty and language you choose, the job description and CV you add (if you add them; we keep the text of the CV, not the file), a recording of the call (your voice and the interviewer's), what was said in it, and the report we make from it. Before a call starts, the page asks for your agreement to the recording.
• If you buy interviews: from our payment partner, Dodo Payments, we receive the payment's status, amount, currency, tax, your country and email, and the pack you bought. We never see or store your card details.
• If you bookmark a link: we store the link and the name tag you give it, tied to your account.
• Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider (Amazon CloudFront) records each request made to talkume.com — your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), the page requested, the referring page, your approximate country, and the time. See "Server logs" below.

How we use your information

• To generate and host your shareable links.
• To let you sign in and maintain a reusable file library.
• To run the optional AI evaluation feature when it's requested.
• To run your practice interviews, make their reports, and keep them in your profile.
• To add the interviews you buy to your account, handle refunds, and keep payment records.
• To keep the service running securely, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse.
• To understand overall site traffic (see "Analytics" and "Server logs").

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.

Who can see your link

Every generated link uses a long, random, non-guessable ID. Link pages are also marked with a noindex, nofollow instruction that asks search engines not to index or crawl them. Between the unguessable ID and that instruction, your link is not discoverable by searching or browsing — only someone who has the exact link URL (because you shared it with them) can open it. Anyone who opens a link can also see its AI evaluation, if one has been run.

Links created without signing in expire automatically after 3 months. Links created while signed in are permanent until you ask us to remove them (see "Your choices"). When a link expires, its CV and voice note are deleted from our storage within a few days. Files uploaded without signing in that never become part of a link are deleted after 7 days.

Where your data is stored

Files and data are stored on Amazon Web Services in the United States (S3 for files, DynamoDB for link and account records, and our server), in a private configuration — files are never publicly accessible; they are only reachable through short-lived, signed URLs generated by our server. The optional AI evaluation is processed on AWS, also in the United States, and, when it's busy there, in the United Kingdom, Sweden or Japan.

Interview Simulation uses AI models running on AWS. The live conversation runs in the United States, and, when that is busy, in Sweden or Japan. The question plan and the report are made in the United States, and, when that is busy, in the United Kingdom, Sweden or Japan. The recording and report are stored in the United States. AWS processes this data for us; it isn't used to train AI models.

Interview recordings and reports

Your interviews, their recordings and their reports are only visible to you, in your profile. They stay there until you delete them: you can delete any interview from your profile at any time, and its recording, report and CV text are deleted from our storage.

After you delete an interview, we keep a short record of it: when it took place, how long it lasted, how many questions were answered, and when its report was made and first opened. We keep it to answer billing and refund questions; it contains nothing that was said. We also keep payment records as long as the law requires.

To stop the free trial from being used many times by the same person, we keep a one-way code made from your network address (not the address itself) for 30 days after a free trial.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records every request to talkume.com, as described above. These logs are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically. We use them to keep the service secure and working, and to produce aggregate traffic statistics for ourselves — for those statistics, IP addresses are replaced with an anonymous identifier that changes every day, and the IP address itself isn't kept. Logging covers every page, including shared links, but it happens at the hosting level — no tracking code runs on shared-link pages.

On our other pages, the page sends small requests to our server when it starts loading, when it finishes loading, on your first tap, click, scroll or key press, and when you leave (with how many seconds the page was open). This lets those statistics tell people apart from automated traffic and see whether the page works on every phone. The requests contain no identifier and store nothing on your device.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our public pages — the home page, blog, and these legal pages — to understand overall site traffic (page views, general location at a country/city level, device type). If you're in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, it only runs after you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit; you can decline, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site. Elsewhere, it runs without a banner; you can block it with your browser's tracking protection or Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Analytics is never loaded on shared CV/voice links, your profile, or your interviews and reports. Opening a /l/... link, your profile, or an interview or its report never sends any data to Google Analytics — those pages carry no analytics code at all, regardless of your cookie choice. We do not use Google Analytics or any other tracker for advertising, and we do not sell data to third parties.

Cookies and local storage

• Sign-in: talkume_session keeps you signed in (up to 30 days), and talkume_oauth_state protects the sign-in process for a few minutes while it runs.
• Analytics region: talkume-analytics-region is set on our public pages for 24 hours to remember whether you're visiting from a region where we ask for consent before loading analytics. It only ever contains the value intl.
• Your analytics choice: stored in your browser's local storage as talkume-analytics-consent.
• Google Analytics sets its own cookies on public pages when it runs.

Third-party services

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, storage, server logs, sign-in and account emails (Amazon Cognito and Amazon SES), the AI evaluation, and Interview Simulation (AI models running inside AWS).
• Google — sign-in (only if you choose to sign in) and analytics on public pages.
• Dodo Payments — processes payments for paid features and for the optional "Support us" donation as the merchant of record, in a payment window shown on our site. Your card details go to them directly; we never see or store them.

Your choices

• You can use Talkume anonymously for a one-off link, with no account at all.
• You can sign out at any time; this ends your session but does not delete your data.
• You can delete your interviews from your profile at any time, and ask us to delete a link, your files, or your whole account and its data by emailing hello@talkume.com.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
